Fannie Brown

Fannie Brown was born on May 8th, 1929 in Newport News, Virginia. She was active in her church and community growing up, and she was also a gifted athlete. She received her Bachelor’s from Virginia State University, and later earned her Master’s at Indiana University. She is known as a devoted school teacher who served before, during, and after integration. For most of her career, she taught at Carver High School and later, she taught at Menchville High School.
