Brenda Gibson Stewart
Brenda Gibson Stewart was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1954 and moved to Newport News, Virginia with her family as a child. There, she attended Huntington High School before being reassigned to Menchville High School as part of the city’s court-ordered bussing program to desegregate local schools. She graduated from Menchville in 1972. She later attended the Virginia School of Hair Design and Dudley Cosmetology University. She has spent the past forty-four years as a cosmetologist, styling hair. She has also served as a deaconess at New Mount Olive Baptist Church.
