Arthur A. Keyes
Arthur Keyes was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area and was an educator in the community for seventeen years. He attended Huntington High School around the time that Lutrelle Palmer lost his position as principal. Keyes went on to receive a college education at North Carolina A&T, where he was influenced to become a school teacher. He taught math to sixth and seventh graders at Carver Elementary School until he was promoted to Assistant Principal. He was an active member of the community and helped assist in making North Newport News an historical area. He is very passionate about civic duties such as voting and raising awareness of African American accomplishments.
